Nursery Design

Designing a #nursery can be a joyful task that doesn't have to be daunting. As one of the first things parents get to do, creating a nursery serves as a reminder of all the excitement to come. To create a comfortable and functional space for your baby, check out my top tips below.

Choose a design that will grow with your baby: By planning for the future and selecting versatile furniture and decor, you can create a space that will adapt as your child grows, saving you time, money, and hassle in the long run.

Storage: Babies come with a lot of stuff, from clothes to diapers to toys, and having adequate storage helps to keep the space organized and tidy. This not only makes it easier to find things when you need them, but it also creates a safer environment for your little one as it minimizes clutter.

Lighting: Soft lighting is important for a baby's nursery because it creates a calm and soothing atmosphere that can help them feel relaxed and comfortable. It can also help with sleep and bedtime routines by signaling to the baby that it's time to wind down and prepare for rest. Lamps and dimmer switches are great for nurseries!

Soft flooring: Babies spend a lot of time on the floor, especially during tummy time, so having a comfortable and supportive surface is essential for their development. Soft flooring can provide a cushioned surface that can help protect babies from injuries if they fall or bump into something. Lastly, it can also help absorb sound, creating a quieter environment that can be soothing for both the baby and the caregiver.

A cozy glider: A cozy glider is a must-have in a nursery because it provides a comfortable spot for parents to spend countless hours feeding, soothing, and bonding with their little one. As babies require frequent feedings and attention, having a comfortable and supportive chair can make a huge difference in the physical comfort of parents during these long hours. A glider can also help create a calming and soothing environment for the baby, which can be especially helpful during late-night feedings. A comfortable glider will also encourage parents to spend more time in the nursery, which is crucial for establishing a strong parent-child bond.

Crib: Choosing the right #cribmattress is crucial for ensuring a safe and comfortable sleep environment for your baby. Look for mattresses that are firm and fit snugly in the crib to reduce the risk of suffocation or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Popular options include the #GracoPremiumFoamCribandToddlerMattress, the #SealyBabySoybean Foam-Core Waterproof Standard Toddler & Baby Crib Mattress, and the #Moonlight Slumber Little Dreamer Dual Firmness All Foam Crib Mattress. Always be sure to follow the manufacturer's guidelines and consult with your pediatrician if you have any concerns.
